Photos from the ceremony at the Monument site at Schoeneck, France 23 August 03

This is primarily for Al Lang, Norman Phillips (other crew survivors) and the families of deceased crewmembers who perished as a result of our fatal bombing mission 26 Aug 44. I (George Lesko) attended the ceremony at the Monument site at Schoeneck, France 23 August 03. The village of Schoeneck annually has a ceremony each year on the Saturday closest to 26 August. The ceremony was very impressive, a beautiful day and I presented a wreath that Norm Phillips ordered and sent with a card in memory of our comrades (En memoire de comrades tombes) and signed "George, Al and Norman". Emphasis on the many articles in then newspapers (which I hope to have translated and sent to you) was on Vince Shaffer and Jack Staton citing the bridge dedication at Mullins, West Virginia. Norman, Al and I also had a mass in honor of the crew of "Ginger" at the Schoeneck Church on Sunday 24 August with Abbe Rohr officiating. I took communion at the service.
