Dear
Friends Hawaii,
George goes well. Sunday afternoon 9 September it has
been welcomed to the airport of Frankfurt (Germany) by
my gendre Gilbert (the husband of my elder girl Pascale).
They speak all two the English as it is necessary. Evenings
have us dine to Forbach/France with Pascale. Evenings
George has slept at our place (Cathy and Raymond) to Schoeneck,
in our better reads, well comfortable. George has slept
as an angel.
Monday
10 September: in the morning have us been to collect us
to the Mémorial of airmen while Cathy prepared
the meal for all (Pascale Gilbert and their children).
We are passed to table to 12 h and gone out of table towards
16 h (local hour). Dominique Jansen, a girlfriend and
fan of our Airmen as us, come east. She speaks well the
English and George (Always also gallant) was so good mood
evenings, as it has us invited (Cathy, Raymond and Dominique)
to the restaurant, so that Cathy be not always to the
cooking to prepare its small dishes. We are gone to eat
Greek to Sarrebrück. Back to Schoeneck, we have finished
the evening with a good bottle of Mirabelle (specialty
Lorraine). Tuesday 11 September: breakfast with eggs on
the dish and Bacon for Georges, stick and growing for
us small French.
At
9 o'clock, interview in front of the Mémorial by
the local Television of Forbach (TV8). To 9 h 40 reception
by the Proviseur, the under-director and M. Granek professor
of English to the high school technological "Condorcet"
of Schoeneck. To 10 h 15 Georges has given a lecture to
the students of the Patent of Superior Technicians of the
high School (they were more 50) to listen attentively the
narrative of the crash of the Ginger to Schoeneck and of
its months as prisoner to the camp Barth. They were really
impressed by the vitality of this Colonel 77 years and admiring
for the courage of all the members of the l'équipage,
that were come to give again liberty and the hope to the
France to the peril of their life the 26 August 1944.
TV8
was present to film and George Lesko has been chosen as
"man of the day" for the whole region. The students
have put many questions to George and shown their recognition
by of long applause. At noon George, Cathy and Raymond have
eaten in the intimacy of their house to the 5 street Balzac
to Schoeneck. Cathy in range émérite had again
be a credit to his host and Raymond has unstopped an of
its better bottles of Holy-Emilion (wine Bordeaux). The
afternoon George has wanted to rest a little... but it was
to count without the tragic évènements of
New-York, Washington and Pittsburg. We have followed the
reportages of this unbelievable catastrophe pass CNN on
TF1. George was concerned, pale... We were all stunned.
I have at several squeezed returns his arm to console it,
Cathy had the tears to the eyes and Dominique is come to
pull a little our effroi for us. The press is come to know
the reaction George. His confidence in the destiny of the
USA was inébranlable. While we were horrified, this
is again him that with his worthy and courageous attitude,
that consoled us the more.
Evenings
have us dine with Pascale Gilbert and the children. The
évènements terrifying New-York were located
to the heart of our conversations. Wednesday 12 September
2001: morning recuperation, calm. Our eyes were again fastened
on the Television. Brigitte and Félix Graus of germany
have telephoned. To 11 h have met Isabelle for us Receiver
the secretary of the district Forbach, girlfriend of our
airmen, always also charming. This was a very happy surprised.
At noon were for us received, George, Cathy and Raymond,
by the Direction and the stewardship of the high School
Condorcet, for a meal gastronomique, watered better white
and red wines of France. George has next visited the installations
technologicals of the high School in company of the Proviseur.
Big kisses and very cordially of Schoeneck/France.
Cathy and Raymond.
